Eric Weems, WR/Return Specialist: Falcons
Eric attended Bethune-Cookman University and posted 178 receptions for 2,533 yards with 19 touchdowns in 42 games as a member of the Wildcats.
He recorded career highs in receptions with 62, receiving yards with 864 and touchdowns with nine as a senior in 2006.
He scored the sixth-most touchdowns scored in a single season in MEAC history with 10 and had 44 catches for 713 yards and six touchdowns in his freshman season.
Eric was originally signed by the Falcons as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2007. He was on the Falcons practice squad in 2007 and saw his first NFL action in the team’s season finale against the Seattle Seahawks.
Eric was signed once again to the Falcons practice squad in 2008 but did see action in six games and totaled one reception for four yards and three special teams’ tackles.
In 2009, Eric competed in all 16 games as a wide receiver and the team's punt and kickoff returner.
As a receiver, he had six receptions for 50 yards and two touchdowns.
His main forte though was a kickoff and punt return specialist where he had 48 kickoff returns for 1,214 yards and 27 punt returns for 270 yards.
His biggest games came against the Giants when he had 93 kickoff return yards and against the Eagles when he had a season high 157 kickoff return yards and 20 punt return yards.
So far this season, Eric is averaging just over 24 yards per kick return and close to 11 yards per punt return.
